Appalachian Dowsers

Applied Intuition & Sensing the Unseen

We are the Appalachian Chapter of the American Society of Dowsers (ASD), a regional dowsing group serving Western North Carolina and the South Carolina upstate area.

The American Society of Dowsers (ASD) was chartered in 1961 to  conduct education about dowsing and intuition development.  The Appalachian Chapter was chartered in 1981 to promote the local practice of dowsing in Western North Carolina and the Upstate.  Since then, it has regularly conducted public lectures and training classes covering the broad scope of dowsing techniques.

We warmly welcome new members and those people who wish to learn more about the fascinating art and science of Dowsing. You don’t have to know how to dowse to become a member; our popular classes can take you from enthusiastic beginner right through to professional level.   [continued below]

Until the pandemic, we offered four quarterly chapter meetings. Now we collaborate with the Tucson Dowsing chapter who arranges monthly presentations via Zoom on the first Saturday of the month, from 4:30 – 6pm EST. We also hold local seasonal gatherings and summer Social Picnics that include basic dowsing training and fun ways to practice dowsing.

UPCOMING:

Our local Western North Carolina

AUTUMN POTLUCK PICNIC,

“The Appalachian Chapter- American Society of Dowsers (AKA- “Appalachian Dowsers”) is having its open-to-all Fall Picnic on Saturday, September 27st, 2025 at a new location at the Walton St. Park Picnic Shelter, 570 Oakland Rd, between A-B Tech and above the River Arts District and railroad sidings.
“Dowsers Meeting” arrow signs will be posted at  intersections prior to Picnic area entrance.
Please bring a yummy potluck dish to share, a camp chair, and your favorite dowsing tools and your own beverages. We will have plates and plastic ware, ice, etc.

Bring interested friends, and bring your Imagination and Expanding Spirit! We truely believe that Intuitive Dowsing will improve all your decisions!!

Set-up begins at 10 am, most folks should arrive about 11 am for meet-and-great with the potluck beginning at 12 noon. We expect the group will dwindle by 3:30 pm, but we have the Shelter all afternoon and will offer dowsing workshops and further Questions/Answers session.  We will have simple pendulums and L-rods for free which you can tote home and hopefully practice this Art and Science technique searching for any thing!
We plan to again have our Intuitive Dowsing story-telling and sharing of personal experiences. Intuitive Dowsing is all about having a clear system to ask carefully worded questions and allowing our Superselves to provide best answers.
Please bring a picnic chair if you have one to help form a listening circle around the existing bolted-down Picnic Tables. Please bring a favorite dish or desserts to share. The food is mostly vegetarian but there are usually vegan and non-vegetarian offerings too. Bring your own non-alcoholic beverages, and we will provide plates and plastic ware, cups, ice, and a few lemonaides, etc. There is a standard park bathroom nearby.
Finding the location at 570 Oakland Rd. works well on several mapping apps (Google Maps, iMaps, etc.) and the Walton St. Park is easy to find. From I-240 to Pattern Ave, then right on Clingmans ave which turns into Depot St., ending at the park. Or from Victoria Rd. Behind Mission Hospital and turn down Oakland Rd. To park. Picnic shelter is on the left next to parking. There will be directional signs at key intersections.
Feel free to contact me (Lee Barnes 828-646-1593 or lbarnes2@earthlink.net) if you have questions or need clarifications.”

We have found the Sharing Circle allows folks to share their wide experiences with Dowsing Intuition, and for newcomers to ask specific questions.

Please join our free mailing list at http://AppalachianDowsers.org for Dowsing videos, dowsing glossary, future events, and membership information.
Please contact Lee Barnes (lbarnes2@earthlink.net; 828-646-1593) with any question or further directions. Thanks and Happy Trails, Lee, President Appalachian Dowsers.”
