Appalachian Dowsers
Applied Intuition & Sensing the Unseen
We are the Appalachian Chapter of the American Society of Dowsers (ASD), a regional dowsing group serving Western North Carolina and the South Carolina upstate area.
The American Society of Dowsers (ASD) was chartered in 1961 as a national organization to conduct education about dowsing and intuitive abilities. The Appalachian Chapter was chartered in 1981 to promote the practice of dowsing at the local level. Since then, it has regularly conducted public lectures and training classes covering the broad scope of dowsing techniques.

While we used to offer four quarterly chapter meetings per year, now we are collaborating with the Tucson Dowsing chapter and offering monthly educational presentations via Zoom on the first Saturday of the month, from 4:30 – 6pm EST. We also hold local seasonal gatherings and summer Social Picnics that include basic dowsing training and fun ways to practice dowsing together such as dowsing for hidden chocolate and underground water.
All our events are announced in our newsletter “The Wellspring” and on this website, along with directions to the in-person meeting locations. Members are entitled to free admission at all of our gatherings and to receive the newsletter.

Our local Western North Carolina Quarterly POTLUCK PICNIC,
Note from Lee Barnes:
“The Appalachian Chapter- American Society of Dowsers (AKA- “Appalachian Dowsers”) is having its open-to-all Fall Picnic on third Saturday, September 21st, 2024 at the West Asheville Park Picnic Shelter from 11 am-4 pm.( same place as last year- Address is 11 Vermont Ave Extension (very end of Vermont Ave), Asheville, NC. 28806. The West Asheville Park is easy access from I-26 off Brevard Rd. To Davenport Rd. To Vermont St. Ext) or from Haywood St./Vermont Ave).
“Dowsers Meeting” arrow signs will be posted at intersections prior to Picnic area entrance.
Please bring a yummy potluck dish to share, a camp chair, any dowsing tools and your own beverages. We will have plates and plastic ware, ice, etc. We plan to setup food at 11 am, lunch at 12 pm, and a “Dowsing Intuition“ Sharing Circle until 3-4 pm. (We have reserved the Shelter until 6 pm so we can have a short “Dowsing Intuition” class after Circle and pendulums and L-rods will be provided.) There are bolted down picnic tables available in the Shelter but having your own chair allows a better Sharing Circle.
We have found the Sharing Circle allows folks to share their wide experiences with Dowsing Intuition, and for newcomers to ask specific questions.

Please contact Lee Barnes ([email protected]; 828-646-1593) with any question or further directions. Thanks and Happy Trails, Lee, President Appalachian Dowsers.”
